Welcome to
Peninsula Womens Health
Peninsula Womens Health was created after years of planning and dreaming by Vanessa Haller and Sally Shaw.
The need for a purpose built womens only clinic on the Mornington Peninsula had been obvious for many years.
Vanessa and Sally had both been working in general practice for over 10 years in the area and had encountered the common problem that general practice does not cater for womens health issues. They were both frustrated that the consultations never seemed long enough to address the real issues.
The clinic was designed to create a relaxing atmosphere where patients could come and immediately enjoy a tranquil ambience and receive a professional service. The doctors who have chosen to work in the clinic have a special interest in womens health.
Our all female staff have an inherent understanding of the stresses and strains that we face in our everyday life. They are not interested in the quick fix style of medicine and would usually encourage you to look at lifestyle issues which may be impacting on your health.
Incorporating natural therapies into the clinic has ensured a holistic and integrated approach where patients can be open about their preference in treatment and the practitioners can work together.
Dr Sally Shaw M.B., B. S., Dip. Obs. Dip ACSCM.
One of the instigators in starting Peninsula Womens Health and the energy behind the scenes. Married with four children, Sally and her husband Michael developed and run the Arthur’s Seat Maze.
Dr Vanessa Haller M.B.,B.S., B.Med.Sc., B. Sc.(Hons)
The other enthusiastic partner of Peninsula Womens Health moved to the peninsula 20 years ago, married with two children. Vanessa continues to work in general practice and diving medicine in Carrum Downs.
Dr Catherine Fyans M.B., B.S.,
Dr Fyans has returned to PWH after a year of working in Geelong where she gained more experience in 'integrative' and nutritional medicine. She takes a 'holistic' approach to health care, incorporating natural therapies and 'mind-body' counselling with conventional therapies. Her interests have also led her to qualify as a kinesiologist, which she integrates with her medical practice.
Dr Katrina White MD, CCFP, FRACGP
Katrina, our young energetic Canadian, first became enamoured by Australia as a backpacker 18yrs ago and joined PWH in 2009 after volunteering for the devastating Victorian bushfires. Katrina enjoys an active outdoor lifestyle with sport and travel, and incorporates the philosophy of illness and injury prevention into her practice, encouraging patients to achieve their own goals of physical and psychological wellness. Most of her 9 years of GP work has been in rural and emergency medicine, while maintaining an interest in women's health - particularly contraceptive counselling/family planning, nutrition/cardiovascular health, as well as sports and rehabilitation.
Dr Anita Moss MBBS, FRACGP, DRANZCOG, Grad. Dip. Women's Health, Family Planning certificate Sexual and Reproductive health.
Anita is a GP obstetrician who has recently relocated from Melbourne, where she worked at Birralee maternity unit at Box Hill Hospital. She is an antenatal shared care provider with Frankston Hospital and offers pre-pregnancy counselling, in addition to dealing with all other aspects of women's health.
